Tamar Pilgrims
Representing Devon and Cornwall, Tamar take their name from the Pilgrim fathers who sailed from Plymouth in the 16th Century.
They won their place in Elite Gridball in 1952 and finished 9th in their debut season, but go into 1954 without their biggest goal asset, Jean Plowright, who fell out with Coach Hill-Oulton and left for Minor League Somerset.

Born Patricia Foxwell to English parents in Africa and grew up in Nottingham after her mother died and was sent to the prestigious Oakbrook boarding school. On leaving school she was signed up by ENSA to entertain troops during World War Two, marrying the band leader, Alexander Windsor. Was recruited by the Limeys in 1951 and helped them to promotion. Although of British and French descent, she is often mistaken for Asian in appearance. scored on her debut 1st March 1952. Made her acting debut in the British B movie 'Deadly Nightshade' in 1952. Played in the 1953 Supergrid semi final for London but lost her place in Supergrid to Ann Margaret Winch. Accepted a move to Tamar in 1954.

As an Olympic Ice Skater, Dora has the heartbreak of finishing fourth in ice dance at the 1948 Games before joining the Pilgrims in 1952. Met BBC exec Hartley Watlington at a pre season game in 1953 and by the end of the year the couple were married.

Born to an English father and Italian mother and is described by team mates as feisty. Once when being heckled by a fan she turned around on court and gave the crowd the fingers and told them to go f** themselves. Fortunately the game wasn't being televised, though she was fined a weeks wages by Gridball. Debut 24th October 1953

Was largely a reserve to Sally-Kate Eidsvoll-Sims last year after being sin binned on the same day she scored her only Pilgrims goal. Has played more of a part in pre season this year after the departure of Shooter Plowright has seen the Pilgrims play with two Centres behind a solitary Attacker. Worked as a Trolley Bus conductress before marrying Circus owner, Ronnie Mockford in 1950.

Was brought to England as a baby when her family emigrated to Devon in 1924 along with her sister, actress, Mary Noad. Had initially hoped to become a ballet dancer and won a scholarship to Sadlers Wells in 1937 but quit two years later for the offer of dancing on the West End. Became a familiar face on the Theatre and Panto circuit during the war before marrying decorated war correspondent Chalmers Hutchinson, who described her as having the loveliest legs on the London stage. The couple settled in Devon after the war where Joan had a son and two daughters before signing for the Pilgrims as an Amateur. Made just one brief appearance as a substitute last season.
