Lancashire Spinners
The Spinners represent the entire county outside greater Liverpool, Manchester, Salford and Bolton and made their senior debut in 1953, finishing just outside the play-offs despite being tipped for immediate demotion.
Their Spinners name comes from the spinning mills of Lancashire from the Industrial revolution.

There was some concern as to whether a thirteen year old schoolgirl should be allowed to go on court to take on adult women in an elite game. In the end the powers that be left it to Burroughs and her father to decide. She soon proved more than capable. While lacking physical strength, she made up for it with athletic agility to now be tipped to possibly turn into the greatest player the game as seen as she matures

GI bride and farmers daughter who married Fred Friedlob in 1943. Briefly lived in Ohio but she and her husband stayed in England where he works as a Car designer. Scored a hat-trick on her Gridball debut in March 1953. Will miss most of the 1954 season as she is expecting her third child in June. Has an seven year old son and five year old daughter.

Miss Nebraska in 1942 but wasn't allowed to compete in Miss America. Danced on Broadway before coming to London in 1951. Briefly danced in the West End before signing for Gridball. Was a reserve in Lancashire's, debut season in 1953 but expected to play a bigger part this season.

Davies was born in Wales to Irish parents while on holiday and grew up in the wealthy Dalkey area of Dublin. She was sent to finish her education in London and trained as a Ballerina before moving into acting. Danced on stage in the West end before marrying businessman Herbert Fuller in 1950. Was ever present in goal for the Spinners in their 1953 debut season.

Was originally a cyclist but suffered a broken back in a horrific crash in 1946, which took her two years to recover from. She tried to get back into cycling but found herself unable to crouch on the bike, switching to Gridball in 1950 where she joined the Spinners. Made her debut in September 1953. Married Gynacologist Keith Montieth in 1953. Is tipped to replace Lablache as first choice Right Guard this season.

Murray was inspired towards sport by her late Scottish father who himself won a Bronze medal at the 1908 London Olympics at Field Hockey. She began gymnastics during the war while an evacuee from London and was considered good enough for the 1944 Olympic team had the games gone ahead. By 1948 her chance had gone and she retired in 1950 when marrying Lt Col James Lablache in 1950. She joined the Spinners in 1952.

Born Frances Renée Bickle, now Baroness Ponsonby since Marrying Baron Ponsonby, writer Geoffrey Mereworth in 1952, Coached Lancashire to promotion to Senior Gridball in 1952 and almost had them two points shy of a play-off spot in 1953.

The daughter of actors, she made her Spinners debut in a 2-2 tie with Tamar on the opening day of the 1954 season in March 1954. She scored her first goal in her second appearance at Kent on April 3rd.
